Necklace Chains
1.                 Jewelry making is a fun and rewarding activity. It's a great way to make unique gifts for friends and family, and you can easily and inexpensively expand your jewelry collection with just a few tricks.
Costume jewelry necklaces chains are one of the building blocks of crafting your own fashion jewelry. Chains can add to the overall design of a piece, or they can simply serve to hold a beautiful pendant.
Simple Chains
2.                 Perhaps one of the simplest chains is one made out of jump rings. Jump rings are tiny wire circles used to link two pieces together, but you can easily use them to create a chain.
You can buy jump rings at any costume jewelry supplies store, or you can make your own. Just take a dowel that is the size of your desired jump rings, and wrap jewelry wire around the dowel in tight, close loops. Slide the loops off, and use wire cutters to snip off each ring.
To create a chain, simply link the jump rings together. Open the rings by holding one side with a pair of pliers and the other side with your fingers. Gently pull one end toward your body and the other end away. Slip another jump ring on, then gently close. Repeat until you reach the desired length. Add a clasp and you have a chain necklace. To add some variation, connect multiple jump rings to each other instead of individually.

Adding Beads to a Chain
3.                 Let's say you want a chain with a bit more dazzle. Just add some beads! Beaded chain necklaces can add a touch of class to any ensemble.
To make a beaded chain necklace, all you need are some beads, eye pins (available at jewelry supply stores), a clasp, chain nose pliers and round nose pliers. Take an eye pin and use chain nose pliers to bend the top 1/4 inch to a 90-degree angle. Then use your round nose pliers to curl the end into a loop. Turn upside down, and add a bead. Cut off the wire about 1/4 inch from the top of the bead. Then bend 90 degrees and make a loop. This is one unit. Make the desired number of units, then use pliers to connect the units into a chain. Add a clasp.
Get Creative
4.                 Of course, these are just a couple of ways to make chainjewelry necklaces. Feel free to experiment with loops, shapes, and material to make fun and interesting designs. Use your imagination, and you'll have a necklace for you or a loved one that is unlike any other.
